Marcy Amendt

options program DIRECTOR

Marcy, originally from British Columbia, is called to serve young women with love and encouragement and does so practically, but also with much investment behind the scenes in building and refining our programs and operations, volunteer management, training and more. Marcy has great vision, and an unwavering determination to offer the highest levels of care as well as a unique ability to draw out the strengths and talents of those she works alongside. As a mom of 6, with a background in healthcare, she inherently knows how to spin many hats at the same time!

Marcy is a part of the Montreal Youth Unlimited Leadership Team, and is also involved in helping with the start-up of Aide Grossesse, another Pregnancy Centre for all ages.

Marcy's compassion to serve young women came from experiencing her own unplanned pregnancy while she was a teenager. Through this, God has given Marcy a heart to love, help, guide, and support young women at a time in their lives when they could be experiencing confusion and hopelessness.

Jessica Labonté

Reception and Ministry Support

Growing up, Jessica was always looking for opportunities to learn and experience what life had to offer. When she wasn’t getting into mischief, making others feel happy and worthy were at the top of her to do list. When she found out she was pregnant at 15, Options was the first place she went to receive help and support. “I’ve spent the last seven years getting to witness all the good changes made not only to the building itself, but to the services offered.”

Now married with four wonderful kids, she felt it was time to give back wherever she was needed. Volunteering in a couple of departments at Options were the first steps which led her to the role she fulfills now. “I am so blessed to be working with such an amazing team. I thank the Lord every day for bringing me to this place where His love and generosity shine bright!”

Nataly Mejia

ABRITER PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Finding support and community were key tools for Nataly when, as an immigrant mother herself, she had to face many challenges with her family's integration to Quebec. This experience is what motivated Nataly to join the Options team, which she feels is a beautiful, God-given opportunity to give back to the community all the love and compassion she received and to help young families remain hopeful and confident to see their dreams and plans to reality.

Nataly directs Options' transitional housing program called Abriter (an action word meaning to protect, to shelter, to house) which offers temporary accommodation to pregnant youth and young parents in precarious situations, by providing personalized holistic support within a stable, safe, and dynamic environment, facilitating a transition into autonomy and long-term housing.

Nataly is a trained member and facilitator of the Parenting Under Pressure program piolet with McMaster University.

Mele Abbey (Gisèle)

ABRITER PROGRAM COORDINATOR

Gisèle worked in Togo for eight years, providing support to pregnant women, a very fragile and vulnerable population there. She had the desire that God had sown in her heart to share with the women she met how much they were loved by God and encouraged them to keep their faith despite the challenges. She was also always involved in various prayer groups for the sick. Gisèle enjoys taking part in retreats and prayer groups. The Alpha course has helped her grow a lot. She is actively involved in her church, providing technical support.

“When you receive Christ in your life, your life is transformed,” Gisèle believes. And it's through this belief that she decided to join the MYU team so she could share with the young people she meets that this transformation can be possible in their lives too.
