whole-person care @ options

"Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." - WHO

Options provides holistic care and services to all individuals aged 25 and under, without judgement or discrimination; while modelling the example of Jesus; abounding in compassion, empathy, grace, and hope. Our services are custom-tailored and client-led, therefore, clients may tap into one or all of our holistic supports touching on these areas:

physical

Physical health increases as youth are familiarized and become comfortable with accessing medical care, as they take responsibility for their health and the health of their partner(s) and children, and as they are integrated into primary health care systems.

mental

Mental health increases as youth are encouraged to explore their circumstances, to recognize their own strength, to develop their support systems, and as they are equipped, to navigate life’s challenges.

INTELLECTUAL

Intellectual health increases as youth are exposed to concepts and systems around relational, familial and sexual health, and the potential impacts their choices and pursuit of learning can have on themselves and others.

emotional

Emotional health increases as youth are equipped with tools that give them greater autonomy over their circumstances, the ability to constructively explore their emotions, and the creative capacity to realize their personal goals and aspirations.

social

Relational health increases as youth learn to value themselves and others, and are encouraged to take time for investment in deeper relational connection.

spiritual

Spiritual health increases as youth are provided opportunities for greater self-awareness and the development of supportive practices that can help them in their current situations and future life.

History and founding

Founded, built, and sustained by
love, care, and compassion.

Options resource and pregnancy centre for youth (previously “Options crisis-pregnancy centre”) was organically founded under the umbrella of Montreal Youth Unlimited in 2003 through the generous efforts of several members of the community of Châteauguay, and headed by previous (co)director of Chateauguay Youth Unlimited, Linda Hoare, to meet the needs of the youth attending to Station 7 Drop-in centre.

Since then Options has cared for numerous young women and families navigating unintended pregnancies as well as young parenthood.

Still operating under MYU, in 2017, Options came under new leadership (Gary Croft, Marcy Amendt, Sue McVeigh) and has since launched a vast array of innovative and dignified bilingual services all housed within the ground level of the Chateauguay Youth Unlimited building.

In fall 2021, Options took the responsibility of MYU’s Maison Moise program, leading to the purchase of a new transitional home in the heart of Chateauguay to be opened in 2022.
